Our farm manager, Joseph O’Grady comes to West Granby most recently from Long Valley, NJ where he started an organic vegetable farm that will serve as the pharmacy for a holistic family doctor. Before that Joe worked for seven years on the fertile fields of the south fork of Long Island. Six of those years were as Field Manager at Quail Hill Farm, a diverse 25 acre vegetable farm and one of the oldest CSA’s on the east coast. Joe brings to Holcomb a passion for providing the local community with a year-round source of nutrient dense produce without pesticides, herbicides, synthetic fertilizers or GMO’s. Before he got into farming Joe taught English in Rietavas, Lithuania a s a Peace Corps Volunteer. He is also an avid hiker, having thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia in 2003 and walking 2,000 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail in 2008
Jill Ford is our administrative guru. She served on the Board of Directors for five years and began volunteering her time doing administrative work. She soon became invaluable and she has worked as an employee since 2011 ensuring the smooth “behind-the-scenes” workings of Holcomb Farm. She has lived in the Granby community for over 20 years and loves working at Holcomb Farm to help feed her community mind, body and soul. Jill’s joyful and reverential spirit inspires us everyday! When she’s not hiking or cycling, reading or knitting, she’s singing and ringing chimes at her church.
Many other wonderful people work at the Farm as Farm Crew, Store Crew, and Volunteers. Here are some of our favorite photos of them!
