Bring your friends and family for a guided hike on the Holcomb Farm trails and adjacent preserved land in celebration of Connecticut Trails Day! This event is free and open to the public!
The Friends of Holcomb Farm and the Granby Land Trust will offer a guided hike through the west side trails at the Farm, continuing onto the Granby Land Trust’s Petersen Preserve, with views of the valley and Barn Door Hills. The hike will continue to the beautiful Carpenter’s Falls in the McLean Game Refuge. The hike will cover about four miles over two hours and will include an approximate 300′ elevation gain. We will walk at a leisurely pace, suitable for families. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.
The hike will start and end at the main campus of the Farm at 113 Simsbury Rd. Porta potties are available at the Farm. Each hiker should bring water. We are having a banner year for ticks, so we suggest wearing long pants that can be tucked into your socks. Recent research indicates that ticks may prefer light colors, so dark-colored pants may offer some advantage.
We hope to see you there!
