Granby Friends Hold Their Annual Used Book Sale September 23 – 25

Come on down to the Farm!  The Friends of Granby Public Library will be holding their 34th Used Book Sale.  The Farm has lots of free and convenient parking, and the facilities are completely accessible.

Shoppers can expect the high quality of items to be available for purchase, which have been carefully reviewed, sorted and stored prior to the event.  Sale items include hard cover and paperback books, trade publications, and a special section of specialty items.  In addition, coffee table books, vintage, first edition and autographed books offer a varied and desirable selection.  The children’s area includes many books for all ages, from toddlers through young adults.  Puzzles, games and learning toys are also available for purchase.

Those who have never attended this sale will note the attention to detail in the organization and presentation of the books.  Non-fiction books are sorted into over 30 categories, and fiction books are also well-sorted.  Prolific authors like Tom Clancy and Robert Patterson have their own designated sections.  Romance, humor, sci-fi and large print are all gathered together into separate areas.

There were quite a few foreign language books that were donated this year, in various genres.  There was also a healthy quantity of DVDs, CDs and books on tape.

Homeschoolers, teachers and education professionals, parents and children, and booklovers of all ages look forward to this sale each year, and our numerous volunteers work very hard during the year to satisfy our patrons.  Those who are seeking unique items of good value will be rewarded.

Continuing the Friday evening tradition, the sale begins at 5:00 pm and has a $5 entry fee.  Those who want a first peek and get prime selection line up eagerly for this exceptional value!  Saturday hours are from 9 am – 3 pm.  Sunday hours are from 11 am to 2:30 pm, and while there are no set prices on Sunday, the Friends ask for donations according to your conscience.

All proceeds from this book sale go to support the mission and goals of the Granby Public Library.  Programming, magazine subscriptions, museum passes, award-winning children’s books, additions to the library collection, and other expenses that cannot be covered through the municipal budget are made possible by this important fundraising event.  Since the book sale is the primary source of revenue for the Friends, sale proceeds make a huge difference to library patrons.  The Friends are extremely grateful for the generosity of the public, not only for the items donated for the sale, but also for the purchases and donations during the three days of the event.

We look forward to seeing you down on the Farm.  Numerous volunteers who are both knowledgeable and friendly are eager to assist.  Further information is available on the Friends website at www.granby-ct.gov, or you can call 860-653-6606.
