Spring, that notorious procrastinator,  has finally come!  Hopefully summer will be a tad more punctual, but no matter, the snow is gone and the time to eat local is fast approaching!  The crew and I have been hard at work for weeks getting ready for the summer CSA.  Spinach, onions, lettuce, carrots, scallions, hakurei turnips,  peas, beets, kale, 1500 pounds of potatoes and more are all in the ground and growing.  And in case there is anyone out there who misses fresh tomatoes, we’ll be planting those this week.  For those who have signed up for our CSA: the season will start the third week in June with Tuesday June 17th being the first on farm pick-up, June 18th the first box share delivery, and so on.  It will continue on for 20 bounteous weeks until the last week in October.  If you haven’t signed up yet  shares are still available but tarry not,  or lose your shot!  I am very excited to be part of this historic farm and want to thank everyone who has already joined or will join – supporting a community farm is a profound way to decide what kind of world you want to live in.  Small scale sustainable farms like ours are where the major issues of Public Health, the Environment, Agriculture and Nutrition come together and can be solved.  I look forward to meeting you at the farm and am always available via email (joe@holcombfarm.org) for any questions you may have.
