• Simply Fresh by Julie Wern–Week 4

Hope every one enjoyed their July 4th celebrations!  We observed fireworks from an airplane window while flying back into Hartford after a vacation in California.  Since I had not been to the farm in a couple of weeks, I thought I would link to an older Simply Fresh article for this week.  It features beets, an item we are receiving in this week’s share.  To see the post, click here

This Saturday, July 9th, at 12 noon I will be doing a cooking demonstration at the CSA barn using farm fresh produce.  Please stop by, observe the demo, taste some good food, and ask any questions you might have.  Looking forward to seeing you there.

Don’t trade away those fennel bulbs, CSA friends! Use all 4 bulbs in this chicken dish! http://www.whygoouttoeat.com/2016/07/08/farm-fresh-chicken-with-fennel/

Julie, I am so happy you gave several ways to cook beets and to remind me how healthy cook beet greens are. I must admit I have discarded them in past years- what a waste. I can’t wait to add them to my list of greens I stir fry.

As always your tips are so appreciated.

Barbara, so glad you found the post on beets helpful. In case you missed the cooking demo this past Saturday, I will publish another recipe this coming week that uses beet greens in yummy potato and zucchini pancakes!
