DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nOn August 19 we will offer two yoga workshops at Holcomb Farm. Improve your flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and overall well-being while enjoying the sights and sounds of this bucolic setting. \nWorkshop 1: Breath with Meditation led by local healing coach and certified Yoga Therapist Kristal Fiorentino (@kristalfiorentino).  An entry level class that connects breath with movement creating union or yoga between body and mind. All are welcome\, no yoga experience needed. Join Kristal as she leads you on a peaceful journey through Body\, Mind and Spirit. 10 – 11 am. \nWorkshop 2: Moving with Breath led by Brittany Gauthier of both Afterglow Studio in Hartford and Yoga from the Heart in Avon. Some yoga experience required for this flow\, that will include vinyasa and strength building poses. Join Brittany in an energizing and strengthening workshop.  11:30am-12:30pm \nPlease register in advance. Please bring your own mats\, water bottles\, seat cushion (towel\, blanket or bolster) and  an open heart.  Folding chairs will be available for use. \nCost to participate is $20. Attend both workshops for $30.  This event is part of our 30th Anniversary Celebration and all proceeds support the Friends of Holcomb Farm’s Fresh Access program\, which provides healthy food to people in need. \n

Location: CSA Barn\, 111 Simsbury Road. \n11 am: Tour the Tree Trail. Holcomb Tree Trail volunteers will take visitors on a tour of the beautiful Holcomb Tree Trail\, our arboretum that boasts more than 90 new trees of more than 25 species\, as well as delightful views. Meet at main campus parking lot: 113 Simsbury Road. \n1 pm: Mushroom Workshop. RMS Growers\, a Granby-based grower of gourmet mushrooms\, will lead an information-packed workshop on how to cultivate healthy\, gourmet mushrooms – including shiitake\, oyster\, and lion’s mane mushrooms – right at home. \n2 pm:  Tour the Farm Fields. Farm Manager Joe O’Grady will take visitors on a tour of the fertile Holcomb Farm fields\, where he will give you a glimpse into the agricultural practices he employs to grow vegetables without chemicals. Learn how he maximizes yields while preserving the ecosystem. Meet at CSA Barn\, 111 Simsbury Road. \nAll Day: CT DEEP Informational Tent. The CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection will display pelts of our local wildlife. Kids of all ages will enjoy learning about the animals that live in and around Granby. This year’s event will showcase the beauty of Holcomb Farm in West Granby. 277 acres of this historic farm are now permanently preserved\, thanks to a conservation easement held by the Granby Land Trust (acquired in 2022). \nARTISTS: Please arrive at 8 AM to find your subject matter. This 313-acre farm offers a variety of paint-worthy settings\, including open fields with mowed paths\, agricultural fields\, old barns\, a farm pond\, an arboretum (the Holcomb Tree Trail)\, beautiful woodlands\, the West Branch of the Salmon Brook\, and more. \nVISITORS: You are invited to explore the property and chat with the artists as they work from 9-11 am. \nThis event is a celebration of the permanent preservation of 277 acres of this property and of the 30th Anniversary of the Friends of Holcomb Farm\, the nonprofit organization that manages the Town-owned farm. DESCRIPTION:Holcomb Farm is excited to participate in this Granby tradition! The Farm Store will be open from 10 am to 6 pm. \nAt 10 am\, Metro Bis Executive Chef Chris Prosperi will teach visitors how to prepare some of his favorite Holcomb Farm vegetables in some of his favorite recipes. (Location: Farm Store) \nAt 1 pm\, Farmer Joe O’Grady will lead a tour of the farm. Learn from an expert\, as he explains how he and his crew care for the land and how that care translates into a better product. Learn about innovations and advancements in sustainable farming\, how he’s extended the growing season\, how he is working to combat the effects of a changing climate\, and more. (Meet in front of the Farm Store.) \n10am – 2 pm: Learn about the animals that live in Granby at the CT Department of Energy and Environmental Protection tent. Pelts of our local wildlife will be on display. Kids of all ages will enjoy learning more about the animals that call Granby home. \nFrom 10 am to 4 pm\, you can: \nLearn about the Healing Meals Project and the Bionutrient Food Association; and shop the Farm Store for Holcomb Farm vegetables and products from other local farms and providers\, as well.
