Learn how to use Holcomb Farm vegetables in your next meal from acclaimed chef Chris Prosperi. Chris is chef owner of Metro Bis restaurant in Simsbury\, a Hartford Courant recipe columnist\, an international cooking teacher\, a weekly chef on NBC 30\, television host of “New England Cuisine” and weekly senior contributor on “The Faith Middleton Food Schmooze®” on WNPR. He’s also a big fan of Holcomb Farm vegetables. Learn new ways to incorporate fresh\, local veggies into your home cooking from an expert. \n1 PM: FARM TOUR WITH FARMER JOE. Take a guided tour of our farm\, where you’ll learn about our farming techniques\, explore our crop fields\, and learn about all we do to grow nutrient-dense\, flavorful produce. The tour will be led by our Farm Manager\, Joe O’Grady\, and is sure to be a lot of fun (if you know\, you know). \n10 AM – 1 PM: CIRCUIT COFFEE FOOD TRUCK. The Circuit Coffee Food Truck\, out of Westfield\, MA\, is a specialty coffee shop with a full espresso bar\, diverse tea list and all the drinks in between. House-made pastries will be available as well. The menu is simple and quality-focused with ingredients sourced as local and fresh as possible. \n12 PM – 3 PM: WINE TASTING WITH LOST ACRES VINEYARD. Taste the wines of our fellow Granby farmers from Lost Acres Vineyard! This vineyard\, located in North Granby\, makes its white wines and rose from a variety of grapes grown on its property. They also make apple wine\, using fruit from their neighbors at Lost Acres Orchard; and red wine\, using grapes grown in California. \nALL DAY ACTIVITIES \nFARM STORE IS OPEN\, selling Holcomb Farm produce\, as well as a variety of products from other area farms. \nBAKE SALE: Friends of Holcomb Farm board members and volunteers will be selling homemade goodies. The route will traverse mowed paths through the Holcomb Tree Trail and forest trails along a glacial drumlin through mountain laurel\, vernal pools and mature trees. DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Holcomb Farm will host its annual meeting on Saturday\, August 20\, at 10 am\, with tours of the Holcomb Tree Trail beforehand. Please park at the main Holcomb Farm complex located at 113 Simsbury Road. Walk across the intersection of Simsbury Road and Day Street South to the Holcomb Tree Trail. Proceed up the gravel farm road and follow the signs to the Seat\, which is the group of benches at the top of the Knoll. This walk takes 5-10 minutes. We will provide rides up the hill to those in need of assistance. Seating and bottled water will be provided. SUMMARY:Sunday Farm Brunch
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a family-friendly summer celebration – a Farm Brunch – on June 26 from 10 am to 1 pm in the North Barn Pavilion at Holcomb Farm. This will be a fundraiser for our Fresh Access program\, through which we provide healthy\, farm-fresh produce to food-insecure people in Granby and the Greater Hartford area. The past two years we were unable to host our annual Harvest Dinner fundraiser\, and we are excited to gather with our farm family again. To help our supporters understand all the good they do through their generosity\, we will welcome guests from our partner agencies\, who can speak to the impact Fresh Access has among those in need. Brunch will be catered by Clark Farms at Bushy Hill Orchard\, live music will be provided by acclaimed singer-songwriter Brandon Serafino\, and specialty coffees will be provided by Circuit Coffee’s Food Truck. We will have lawn games for kids of all ages\, our rock star farm crew will be on-hand to answer questions about the farm\, and it will all take place with a gorgeous view of the fields where we grow our extraordinary fruits and veggies. DESCRIPTION:Lost Acres Vineyard will feature an exhibition of oil paintings by Kate Emery from April 29 through May 30. \nThe show is titled\, The Land That Feeds Us: Body\, Mind and Soul and Kate\, who has supported the Farm before through her generosity\, will donate 50 percent of proceeds to the Friends of Holcomb Farm’s Fresh Access program. Giving back is part of Kate’s mission as an artist. She says\, “All of my art has a greater mission: to uplift nonprofit organization working for the betterment of people and our planet.”  \nLost Acres Vineyard spring hours are Fridays & Saturdays from 12 – 6 and Sundays from 12 – 5. \nThe Friends of Holcomb Farm is truly grateful to Kate for her generous support\, and to Lost Acres Vineyard for hosting this special exhibition.

SUMMARY:Guided Walk on Holcomb Tree Trail - Earth Day 2022
DESCRIPTION:In celebration of Earth Day 2022\, come out on Saturday\, April 23\, and hug a tree! (But please be gentle\, as some of them are still young!) \nFounding members of the Holcomb Tree Trail will be on hand to answer your questions as they lead you on an informative walk through the beautiful Holcomb Tree Trail. The walk will be easy\, with a moderate uphill climb to start. We’ll be out on the trail for about 1.5 hours\, with frequent stops. \nMeet in the main parking lot at Holcomb Farm (113 Simsbury Road) at 10 am. Holcomb Tree Trail members will lead you across the street into our East Fields for a short hike on this beautiful trail. You’ll want to wear appropriate footwear\, as some areas might be muddy or wet. Please leave your dogs at home\, as this is a group event. Please do bring your questions and a smile! \nRaindate: Sunday. In the event of rain\, we will move the event to Sunday\, April 24 at 10 am. We will post any updates here.
