This year’s event will showcase the beauty of Holcomb Farm in West Granby. 277 acres of this historic farm are now permanently preserved\, thanks to a conservation easement held by the Granby Land Trust (acquired in 2022). \nARTISTS: Please arrive at 8 AM to find your subject matter. This 313-acre farm offers a variety of paint-worthy settings\, including open fields with mowed paths\, agricultural fields\, old barns\, a farm pond\, an arboretum (the Holcomb Tree Trail)\, beautiful woodlands\, the West Branch of the Salmon Brook\, and more. \nVISITORS: You are invited to explore the property and chat with the artists as they work from 9-11 am. \nThis event is a celebration of the permanent preservation of 277 acres of this property and of the 30th Anniversary of the Friends of Holcomb Farm\, the nonprofit organization that manages the Town-owned farm. It also is a lead-up to the Granby Land Trust Art Show – Celebrating New England’s Natural Beauty – which will run October 26 through November 26 at Lost Acres Vineyard. RMS Growers\, a Granby-based grower of gourmet mushrooms\, will lead an information-packed workshop on how to cultivate healthy\, gourmet mushrooms – including shiitake\, oyster\, and lion’s mane mushrooms – right at home. \n2 pm:  Tour the Farm Fields. Farm Manager Joe O’Grady will take visitors on a tour of the fertile Holcomb Farm fields\, where he will give you a glimpse into the agricultural practices he employs to grow vegetables without chemicals. Learn how he maximizes yields while preserving the ecosystem. Meet at CSA Barn\, 111 Simsbury Road. \nAll Day: CT DEEP Informational Tent. Improve your flexibility\, strength\, balance\, and overall well-being while enjoying the sights and sounds of this bucolic setting. \nWorkshop 1: Breath with Meditation led by local healing coach and certified Yoga Therapist Kristal Fiorentino (@kristalfiorentino).  An entry level class that connects breath with movement creating union or yoga between body and mind. All are welcome\, no yoga experience needed. Join Kristal as she leads you on a peaceful journey through Body\, Mind and Spirit. 10 – 11 am. \nWorkshop 2: Moving with Breath led by Brittany Gauthier of both Afterglow Studio in Hartford and Yoga from the Heart in Avon. Some yoga experience required for this flow\, that will include vinyasa and strength building poses. Join Brittany in an energizing and strengthening workshop.  11:30am-12:30pm \nPlease register in advance. Please bring your own mats\, water bottles\, seat cushion (towel\, blanket or bolster) and  an open heart.  Folding chairs will be available for use. \nCost to participate is $20. Chris is chef owner of Metro Bis restaurant in Simsbury\, a Hartford Courant recipe columnist\, an international cooking teacher\, a weekly chef on NBC 30\, television host of “New England Cuisine” and weekly senior contributor on “The Faith Middleton Food Schmooze®” on WNPR. He’s also a big fan of Holcomb Farm vegetables. Learn new ways to incorporate fresh\, local veggies into your home cooking from an expert. \n1 PM: FARM TOUR WITH FARMER JOE. SUMMARY:Friends of Holcomb Farm Annual Meeting
DESCRIPTION:The Friends of Holcomb Farm will host its annual meeting on Saturday\, August 20\, at 10 am\, with tours of the Holcomb Tree Trail beforehand. Please park at the main Holcomb Farm complex located at 113 Simsbury Road. Walk across the intersection of Simsbury Road and Day Street South to the Holcomb Tree Trail. Proceed up the gravel farm road and follow the signs to the Seat\, which is the group of benches at the top of the Knoll. This walk takes 5-10 minutes. We will provide rides up the hill to those in need of assistance. Seating and bottled water will be provided. We look forward to celebrating our accomplishments\, recognizing all who have given so much time and energy to the farm this year\, and sharing our plans for the year ahead. \nTree Trail tours \nWe will be offering short guided Tree Trail tours before the meeting. If you are interested\, tours will depart from the meeting site at 9:00 and 9:30AM. \nYou are invited to review our 2021 Annual Report in advance of the meeting if you can. Thank you!

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a family-friendly summer celebration – a Farm Brunch – on June 26 from 10 am to 1 pm in the North Barn Pavilion at Holcomb Farm. This will be a fundraiser for our Fresh Access program\, through which we provide healthy\, farm-fresh produce to food-insecure people in Granby and the Greater Hartford area. The past two years we were unable to host our annual Harvest Dinner fundraiser\, and we are excited to gather with our farm family again. To help our supporters understand all the good they do through their generosity\, we will welcome guests from our partner agencies\, who can speak to the impact Fresh Access has among those in need. Brunch will be catered by Clark Farms at Bushy Hill Orchard\, live music will be provided by acclaimed singer-songwriter Brandon Serafino\, and specialty coffees will be provided by Circuit Coffee’s Food Truck. We will have lawn games for kids of all ages\, our rock star farm crew will be on-hand to answer questions about the farm\, and it will all take place with a gorgeous view of the fields where we grow our extraordinary fruits and veggies.
