Holcomb Tree Trail Scavenger Hunt
As part of the annual Connecticut Trails Day, the Friends of the Holcomb Farm offers a family friendly hike in the fields and woods of the Town-owned farm. The hike will cover 4-5 miles at a leisurely pace. Well behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. The hike will start at the parking lot at the main campus (113 Simsbury Rd., West Granby).
This year’s event will feature a scavenger hunt to identify several varieties of trees throughout the eastern section of the farm in rolling fields and forest. Recently, several new trees have been planted and mature trees in the existed woodlands have been tagged with labels. The intent is to create teams of all ages tasked with finding as many trees as possible from a provided list and map. Teams will take pictures of as many labels as they find. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.
