Winter Share Signup is NOW OPEN!

Eat Local All Winter Long

Stock your kitchen with local produce all winter long by joining our beloved Winter CSA. The winter share arguably rivals the summer share in its variety of vegetables, and we’re excited to continue providing you with nutritious, local, sustainably grown produce you can trust throughout the winter.

Enjoy onions, carrots, beets, sweet potatoes, potatoes, winter squash, cabbage, parsnips, turnips, radishes, rutabagas, sunchokes, and ridiculously sweet greenhouse greens like baby kale, arugula, salad mix, Asian salad mix, and winter spinach. And, if the weather cooperates, even some field greens!

Pick Up When it Works for You

This year's winter share will be structured similarly to the Summer CSA share, with a little added flexibility.

The share spans 20 weeks, but you can choose when you come to the farm store.

  • Come every week for 20 weeks
  • Skip a week and pick up a double share the next time
  • Come once a month and take a larger share

There’s no set schedule you have to follow. We’ll keep track of your pickups throughout the winter to make sure you receive the full value of your share.

Why Be a Winter Share Member?

Like the Summer CSA, the Winter Share is a great way to eat seasonally and locally while getting the most value from your farm share. As a CSA member, you pay wholesale prices upfront rather than farm store or market prices throughout the season. Over time, that means your total produce cost is lower than if you were purchasing the same vegetables individually.

But it’s about more than saving money. By joining the Winter Share, you’re choosing to continue supporting seasonal, local agriculture through the winter months—and to keep your kitchen stocked with fresh, local vegetables even when the growing season winds down.

How to sign up:

The quickest way to sign up is online. If you’d like to avoid credit card fees, you can also sign up in the farm store with cash or a check and fill out a signup form.

We recommend not mailing your signup form and payment, since we can’t guarantee how quickly spots will fill up.

Winter Share Pickup in Our Year-Round Farm Store

Woohoo! Our first Winter Share in our new farm store (87 Simsbury Road)!

This year's winter share is extra special because it will be the first winter share in the new farm store. Instead of bundling up for pickup, you’ll be able to come inside, warm up, and enjoy running water, clean vegetables, shelter from the elements, and HEAT!

And the farm store will be fully stocked!

Having a heated, four-season farm store means our jarred goods can stay safely on the shelves, our fridges and freezers can stay running, and we can continue offering a great selection of local products all winter long.

Our goal is to keep growing the farm store into a hub for local producers and our community year-round, and we’re excited for Winter Share to be part of that.

Why Join Our CSA

Holcomb Farm is a nonprofit CSA that farms without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides -- not even organically approved ones. CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture, and it is the best way to support your local farm, save money, improve your health, and liven up your dinners. CSA members pay wholesale prices before the season begins, giving us the ability to purchase seeds, maintain equipment, and hire staff (thank you!). In return, you enjoy a full season’s worth of healthy produce at a reduced cost. (CLICK HERE to learn more about joining a CSA.)

We select our seed varieties for flavor, eating quality, yield, and disease resistance. Because our members receive our produce directly from the farm, hours after it is picked, we do not have to select varieties for their ability to be shipped. This allows us to emphasize flavor over shelf life, and interest over uniformity.

Lastly, you get the added benefit of belonging to a not-for-profit farm. Our mission is not revenue-driven. Our mission is to utilize this historic farm and serve our community.

When placing your order, we hope you will consider making a tax-deductible donation to Fresh Access to help feed neighbors in need. Last year, we provided approximately 27,000 pounds of vegetables and 3,500 pounds of fruit to our community partners for distribution to people in need;. And we continue to add value in the process:  for every $1.00 we raise, we provide $1.40 of food (retail value) to people who need it. Please help us continue this important work. Thank you!

Refund Policy

Once you join our CSA, you are committing to the entire season. The CSA partnership sustains our farm. Therefore, we're sorry, but we cannot issue refunds.
